…and Winter Games start!

Bamyan
located in the Central Highlands of Afghanistan at an altitude of 2500 meters (8,
202 ft)
and 230 km (143miles) to the northwest of Kabul is
extraordinarily enriched with natural sites attracting tourists and
contributing greatly to the tourism industry of not only Bamyan but also of the
country, Afghanistan. Before the wars, thousands of national & international
tourists used to explore the beauty of the province and tourism industry was
the major factor of region’s economic independence & growth. With its
location in the Heart of Afghanistan Bamyan is surrounded by stupendously
majestic mountains reaching to 5000 m above the sea level, some of which are
worth-exploring. These mountains offer adventurous tourism, mountaineering,
rock-climbing, etc. playing great contribution for sustainable tourism
development in the province and the recently “Winter Games” events offer yet
another reasons to visit Bamyan in all seasons of the year.
With
almost 4-6 months fully snow-covered-mountains from which endless streams flow
_being vital water source for drinking, crops and irrigation
Bamyan offers great
potentials of skiing for all skiers ranging from beginners to professional
ones. For beginners there are ample short, low angle slopes (less than 10
degrees) in and around all the gateway villages. The cross-country ski and
snowshoe routes outlined are also great places to learn.

Winter Games was first launched in 2010 with aim
to make Bamyan as four season tourist destination and has now become not only a
tourist attaction but a source of income for local ski guides, transporters and
local communities. The first ski event of 2013 started on Friday, January 18,
2013 on sugary snow covered hills of Sheberto area where boys, girsl, kids and
people from different walks of life enjoyed the amazing expereince of skiing.
This will continue on every Friday being official weekends when all can enjoy
skiing along with their families, relatives, friends or colleagues. So tending
to make it an unfrogetable memory, do join Rah-e-Abrisham Tour & Travel
Agency on every Friday for yet 3 more months.
