Discovering Other Side of Kuala Lumpur
The world is book and those who do not travel read only one page.
Malaysia, a country where diversity in life-styles; harmony in differences and dream for more robust nation never put the national pride in jeopardy _ Malaysia, truly Asia. Living for two years has taught me one thing for certain, the country never ceases dreaming BIG.
Being world’s 8th most visited city (Mastercard Global Destination City Index 2015), Kuala Lumpur (KL) is destined to draw 16 million tourists with RM 79 billion revenue and creating 71, 000 jobs by 2025 according Kuala Lumpur Tourism Bureau. The city’s Master Plan (2015 – 2025) includes training a group of Tourism Ambassadors to promote tourism attractions of KL to tourists which will make the them stay longer and KL becomes yet stronger destination in global tourism landscape. I take the opportunity as an honor to be part of KL’s dream for it’s worth it.
During our training I frequently asked other volunteer ambassadors (locals mainly) if they’d known the facts and/or been to the sites but I was responded with shrugged gesture and a statement, “The younger generation barely know how the cities were built with limited resources. I’m surprised”. This gesture maybe similar to those tourists who do not know how tens of tourism attractions (historical and cultural heritage – both tangible & intangible) slip away from their itineraries. The Tourism Ambassador – not tour guides –  will be positioned at different tourist attractions to help tourists with addresses, direction to the sites, information about activities and amenities and everything they need for a pleasant tour experience of the city. Here are some amazing tourism attractions to add on your itinerary to explore true Asia, Malaysia.
