With 18 hotels and restaurants having accommodation capacity of around 500 guests at a time, this is another addition to making accommodation yet easier and more comfortable for all kinds and classes of Bamyan visitors. “Wow!” was the first impression I had on my visit to Bamyan Highland hotel which is located almost 2 KM away on the north-west side of Bamyan Town on a top hill in Sukh Qoal area. From outside the hotel looks stunning with its architectural design resembling to historical forts in the province; its building color matching the slight brownish prominence of Buddha Niche and its decoration portraying the local cultures beauty which one can see on room-set up, curtains, dinning tables and in fact each part of the hotel models the uniformity of local culture, natural beauty and modern touch. All credit goes to the hotel management team comprising of local entrepreneurs including Abdullah Mahmoodi (having worked in tourism industry for 5 years), Rasool Shujai (having worked with Department of Information & Culture for 3 years) and Zahra Ahmedy (having majored in architecture & design).

With aim to provide better & quality services for national & international tourists this environmentally eco-friendly business provides job for 14 staff as management, cooks, waiters, cleaners and guards working on 15 equipped rooms for rates 70 $ for single-bed & 90 for double-beds; however, there are 2 rooms with local carpet & beds with lower prices for local visitors. Each room has attached bathroom with high class amenities to make your stay worth it.

In its opening ceremony, the Governor of Bamyan appreciated the investors and management team for their efforts in improving hotel industry while she promised of high security for all businesses in Bamyan. One of the investors (Afghan-German businessmen) Mr. Haidery welcomed the guests on-line from Germany through Skype ensuring that the income of hotel remains in Bamyan and not going to Germany. Moreover, the spokesman for Head of Information & Culture Department Mr. Mahdavi stated that Bamyan has all tourism attractions and with establishment of standard hotels including Highland Hotel, tourists will enjoy their stay in the province. Abdullah Mahmoodi, one of the hotel managers mentioned that the hotel offers all kinds of food ranging from Bamyan local, to Chinese and European tastes.

After the speeches, the Provincial Governor of Bamyan along with Police Chief of Bamyan, Deputy Governor and guests from international, national & local NGOs and civil society joined to open the hotel very formally and had a tour of the hotel guided by hotel operation manager, Rasool Shujai which I enjoyed for sure. After the tour, the guests were entertained by local music performance and were served some of the delicious food from all tastes of local, Chinese & European. This indeed is yet another addition to Bamyan business and a standard facility to visitors.
